Projects
Honduras
In the past few months, Dr. Gill was
introduced to Dr. Barry Sorrells of Love Truth Care
Ministries (LTCM) from Little Rock, Arkansas.
LTCM (www.lovetruthcare.net) was established
by Dr. Sorrells and Mr. Jim Phillips to provide
care to the Tegucigala Hospital in Honduras. An
1800 bed facility, with 18,000 births per year, the
hospital lacks any significant radiology equipment.
Currently RWB is making arrangements to
donate mammography equipment provided by
Hologic, Inc. and a 1-slice CT Scanner courtesy
of Margaretville Hospital in New York State.
Current Action Plan by Radiologists Without Borders:
- Over 200 textbooks will be delivered to Radiology
Technologists in Tanzania this summer.
- The first group of physicians and technologists
will be arriving for training at Lourdes Hospital this
month.
- RWB will be accepting a 1.5 Mobile MRI in the
next few weeks. A feasibility study as to where it
can be placed is being conducted.
- RWB and Mission Central will begin its new
relationship this week as mammography
equipment from Hologic is being delivered for
staging.
- RWB will accept a 1-slice CT Scanner from
Alliance Health on July 1st (to be sent to Honduras
through Mission Central).
- RWB will accept Ultrasound equipment from Columbia
Memorial Hospital this week.
- RWB will meet with Duke University in the next few
weeks to discuss procurement of equipment that Duke
currently has in reserve.
- RWB is working with other entities to secure grants.
- RWB will be holding discussions with private
individuals, non-profit and faith-based groups to
secure ongoing monetary gifts.
- RWB is looking at establishing business opportunities
where profits might be used to augment NFP
monetary needs.
